    Common questions

    How loud is it?

Whisper-quiet — from 24 dB on low and under 35 dB on its normal night setting. Quiet enough to sleep beside, independently confirmed by HouseFresh.

    What do replacement filters cost?

Standard 3M Filtrete MERV-13 media — about £25 a pair, changed every 6–12 months depending on use. No locked-in proprietary cartridges.

How much does it cost to run?

About £2 a year. It draws roughly 15 W on its normal setting — less than a lightbulb.

What room size does it cover?

Clears a 30 m² room in about 15 minutes (Intertek-certified CADR). Ideal for bedrooms, living rooms, nurseries and home offices.

Does it remove viruses and allergens?

Yes — MERV-13 media captures fine particles down to 0.3 microns, comparable to HEPA, including pollen, dust, pet dander, mould spores, smoke and airborne viruses.

    Independent Reviews

Google Aggregated Reviews - December 2025: User and independent reviews for Clean Air Kits products indicate that they are effective and exceptionally quiet for their high performance.

About this model: the independent lab tests below were run on the Luggable XL (7-Fan). This model shares the same 3M MERV-13 filtration and the same silent pressure-fan design — sized for its own room class.

Independent test highlights — Luggable range (HouseFresh tested the XL 7-Fan)

    • Performance: Independent tests show it cleans the air in a medium-to-large room (around 45 m²) as effectively and quickly as popular, more expensive retail air purifiers like the Winix 5500-2 or Levoit Vital 200S
    • Noise Level: The most praised feature — reportedly one of the quietest high-performance air purifiers tested (around 38.8 dBA), often described as a whisper or easily ignorable background hum
    • Energy Efficiency: Uses very little power (around 10.5 watts), giving low running costs — about £2 a year if run continuously
    • Build/Value: Simple build with long-term savings from generic, efficient and affordable HVAC filters (like 3M Filtrete) instead of proprietary ones
    • Filter Type: Primarily uses MERV-13 filters — excellent for particles. For odours & VOCs, choose the Luggable Carbon, which adds an activated-carbon stage.
